Where is Joy?

Do you have it?

It seems to me with the current divisive climate right now, Joy is more elusive than ever.  I, for one, am in search of more of it.

Joy comes from wants.

You NEED food and water, but what do you WANT?  Joy comes from getting what you want, not just what you need — this would be a great time to start making a list of what you want.

Here is where it gets interesting — when I ask my clients what they want, the common response often revolves around other people, as in, “I want to be a good Mom.”

But what do you want for YOURSELF?

NEWSFLASH: There are a lot of Wantless and Needless people walking around.

Why?  Because when things get tough they have learned to tune out all of their wants and needs to become a service to others.  It’s usually conditioning from their families, society, or religion.

It makes me sad when I write this because that used to be ME. I unconsciously took that on after single parenting for 17 years.  My life was all about doing for others, and I honestly had no idea what I really wanted. That is now changing BIG TIME!!

Of course, there is the opposite side of what I just mentioned, and that is OVERLY needing and wanting.  When things must always only go their way — yes, this can even be me too at times.

So how do you find the balance?  JOY actually thrives in the middle ground between the two.  It’s taken me a while to undo this type of conditioning that I unconsciously learned.

So here are the first steps of my path to Joy from what I’ve learned so far:

  • JOY thrives when you live a valued life — when you connect your behaviors with your values.
  • My number one value is always freedom. It is very important for me to be able to control my time.
  • Being of service is very important to me and I’ve realized my work must be connected to this.
  • Money is a huge part of being able to make choices and decisions based on abundance and not out of fear.

These are all in place with my current lifestyle business!  I am on my way to JOY!  I start every morning with practicing gratitude and asking myself what I WANT and DESIRE my day to look like.

Here are some of the simple things that brought me joy this week:

How can you begin to bring true joy into your life and work? I would love to hear from you!  If I can help you in any way to achieve more joy in your life, please reach out and schedule a call with me.

All my best,
